While the Rams are still lacking in the secondary and on the offensive line, the signing of Detroit Lions-departed Nick Fairley to a one-year deal gives the Rams an asset that may put their front four at the top of the NFL’s pass rush class.

As detailed here on LARams.net, the March 10 episode of Grantland’s “NFL Podcast” was hit with a barrage of offseason moves while recording a show planned to be devoted to *previewing* moves to be made by NFC West and NFC South teams. Just as the dynamic duo was about to blow off the Rams after rhetorically pouring one out for Jake Long and move onto the New Orleans Saints, news of the Nick Foles-for-Sam Bradford trade with the Philadelphia Eagles hit the internets.

This guy will admit to digging on Grantland’s “NFL Podcast” with writers Robert Mays and Bill Barnwell, who ultimately could go down as the Siskel and Ebert of the football gab set. The boys were pushed to the limit while recording another episode of the ‘cast which ostensibly set out to forecast the NFC West and NFC South teams’ free agency period moves; however, the March 10 “NFL Podcast” became obsolete in “real time,” in the parlance of our (real?) times.
Finally getting to the Rams after dissecting recent moves by the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals (sigh), Barnwell was quick to proclaim the team as “Not having an exciting off-season relative to the rest of the division…”

Damn. LARams.net’s beautiful dreams of the Rams drafting Oregon Ducks QB Marcus Mariota at no. 10 in the upcoming NFL Draft and subsequently trading for the Philadelphia Eagles’ Nick Foles have been destroyed, it seems.
One Kristian Dyer of the Metro news franchise is the bubble-burster today, explaining:

Good to see some backup on this website’s open hope that Oregon Ducks QB Marcus Mariota just might fall to the Rams at no. 10 overall in the 2015 NFL Draft – and even more interestingly, further acknowledgement that the Rams could/will flip Mariota for Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles and an additional pick or two.
Backing up Eliot Shorr-Parks at NJ.com, St. Louis American sports columnist Palmer Alexander also riffs on NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah’s latest mock draft to come to a similar conclusion:

Now here’s an interesting line of thought that just might give Rams fans déjà vu to the coup of 2012, coming courtesy of NJ.com’s Eliot Shorr-Parks.
The recently updated 2015 mock draft by Daniel Jeremiah on the NFL’s official website has the New York Jets bypassing much-watched Oregon QB Marcus Mariota in favor of Michigan State CB Trae Waynes on Draft Day and landing in the St. Louis Rams’ collective lap at no. 10 overall.
Shorr-Parks rightly reasons in turn that the Philadelphia Eagles, known to be heavily pursuing Mariota (and, let’s face it, the destination wherein he has the overwhelmingly greatest chance for NFL success), would come ringing the Rams’ telephones on Draft Day should the ex-Duck fall that far.
